The choices that you make today around the possibility of gaining a successful resolution to ongoing niggling problems in your social or business life seem workable and yet on further investigation they don’t necessarily appear to be the best ones. I sense it doesn’t really matter today. Ultimately you will be accountable for whatever happens.

Should've Known (2/3)
Benny Lafitte x Reader (reader has nickname of Bandit. This will be a mini series with the break up first then how they got together then Benny coming to find her)
Human/Hunter Benny AU
Benny reflects on your relationship during his drive from Louisiana to Sioux Falls
The day Benny met you was way back when Lucifer had been busted out after the seals were broken. Demons and monsters were crawling out of every dark corner of hell and when Bobby had sent up the message that hunters needed to circle the wagons to push back Benny and Elizabeth had thrown their hats into the fight as well.
Getting to the safe house where all of you were hold up was a task in itself. They'd just finished the tests needed to get into the threshold when he'd heard a set of voices hollering "OPEN THE DAMN DOOR!" He hadn't expected two women to come sliding into the door, covered in blood and laughing something about ghouls.
Dean has jumped to grab both of you, Bobby and Ellen both were clearly terrified at the blood covering you both but after you'd wiped the blood free of your face and assured everyone the blood didn't belong to either of you introductions were done. Ellen had introduced Jo as her daughter and Bobby had introduced you as basically his kid "We call her bandit but that's a story for a different day" Dean had added with a laugh when he had to dodge you swinging at his arm.
You'd grinned before wiping your hand on your jeans and offering it to him and Elizabeth "Well if I would've known we had company I would've cleaned up a bit" Jo and Dean had both cracked up but one look from Ellen silenced the three of you. "Serious note, thank you two for coming. We need all hands on deck"
After that fight you'd ended up helping Jo to sort of takes reigns of some of the hunters network to take the load off of Bobby which meant more and more hunters knew you.
It took about a year and half of knowing each other before the first time you and Jo had stopped in Carencro for a visit. Benny could still remember when you'd called him "Lafitte, um we need a better first aid kit then we got and a decent place to crash for a couple hours. Think we can take you and Liz up on that offer?"
-------
Elizabeth had helped you and Jo patch up and considering neither of you felt like going to the café or out for food Benny had offered to cook you something.
Jo was still in the shower and Elizabeth was putting the first aid items away when Benny had heard a light set of footsteps behind him. He'd been around you enough to know you were purposely making noise to let him know you were there. He hadn't turned around from the stove before saying "Just wondering Darlin, you ever gonna tell me the story behind Bandit?"
You laughed and he cut his eyes at you watching as you grabbed a bottle of water then came to stand not far from him watching the food as he stirred the contents of the pan around "Your sister knows" he turned in earnest then to look at you "Well that's just wrong"
You laughed again and he had to enjoy the sound. He'd learned quickly that it took you a while to let down your walls and seeing you relaxed around him meant a lot. You'd tapped the bottle in thought before finally saying "Raccon traits Benjamin. Stays up all night, dark circles under eyes, looks cute but will fight you and very well may be rabid"
A smile slipped onto his face at that "Bandit works then" you'd grinned then leaned over his shoulder "What ya cooking anyways?" He shrugged "Making a stirfry. Figured it wouldn't be too hard on your stomachs but would give you something warm so you two can get some rest"
About that time Jo and Elizabeth emerged and the mood quickly shifted, any conversation between just you and Benny long forgotten.
When had the two of you slipped from friends to more? Was it when Andrea started swearing something was going on between the two of you? (resulting in Jo going after her)
Or was it when you got hurt and Jo had called Elizabeth for help because the two of you were about thirty miles from them and he'd left In the middle of the night to go to your side.
---------
The day he'd found out Andrea cheated on him it just so happened you'd swung through Carencro with Dean and Sam to see Elizabeth before continuing on to New Orleans to pick some stuff up for Bobby.
The three of you had gone to Benny's bar with intentions to grab a beer then head to the café before hitting the road. Neither of you had expected that about the time you'd be walking into the door Andrea would nearly knock you down storming out.
Benny had made it to the corner in enough time to see Dean grab your arm before you could hit the ground and steady you. He'd seen the anger in your eyes as you'd hollered "The fuck is your problem Andrea?"
She'd eyed you before looking at Benny who'd by then made it to the doorway "Yet you ask how I could cheat?" "Woah woah woah...she cheated on you?" You'd asked Benny and when he nodded a smile that couldn't be described as anything other than dangerous slipped onto your face "I'm gonna beat your ass bitch!"
Dean had grabbed you before you could get a hand on Andrea and Sam had helped him to drag you into the bar. The last thing Dean had said over his shoulder was "Andrea. I can hold her for maybe five minutes then you're on your own"
After the split from Andrea it seemed like you and Benny started finding your way to each other a lot more often. When you needed a hunting partner that wasn't Jo or either Winchester you'd call him and vice versa.
The first time he'd realized he'd developed feelings for you beyond friendship was on a hunt. You'd gotten hurt protecting a few kids. Seeing the blood staining the front of your shirt had terrified him. Even worse was when he had to be the one to stitch you up.
You'd laid across the bed in the motel and teased him as he laid out the suture kit "Damn Lafitte you look a little green. Cmon it aint that bad. Focus on my hell hound scars and this looks like face paint in comparison"
He'd laughed to humor you more than anything then worked in silence. When he was done you'd squeezed his hand "See? No biggie. Now do you need patching?" He shook his head because he had a few ribs he was certain was cracked but there really wasn't nothing that could be done for them.
He'd helped you to stand and it was then you'd seemed to notice your shirt was wrecked. "Damn, I need a new shirt" he hadn't thought before offering you one of his. When he had the smile on your face had made his heart flip "You sure Benny? Ask Dean and Sam I don't return shirts"
He'd helped you to slip your ruined shirt off, trying to ignore how it felt to have his hands on your skin. Once his shirt was covering you, the distance between the two of you were pratically none existent.
You stood picking absent-mindedly at the front of the shirt and he'd not moved his hand after buttoning one of the buttons on the grey henley you now wore so that it wouldn't fall down off your shoulder "Benny?" Your voice was so damn soft when your eyes met it took everything in him to not kiss you or at least ask if he could. "Thanks for the shirt" you'd told him then pulled away to climb into one of the beds in the motel room. He'd nodded more to himself then to you "Anytime Bandit"
The first time He'd kissed you, you'd voiced the fear of being a rebound. The truth was Andrea couldn't have been further from his mind. The only thought he'd had that night was just how gorgeous you'd looked dancing at the bar with Sam.
Hell he hadn't thought much of Andrea in a while before that. Yeah he'd loved her and her cheating had hurt but he couldn't help but wonder could it have been a course correction because looking at you? He didn't know if he ever would've gotten with her if he'd known you like he knew you now.
Weeks passed and he finally managed to get it through your head you weren't a rebound. He cared about you. You slowly started to open yourself to being with him. The first time the two of you had slept together you'd woke up the next morning and had been so damn distant it had scared him. He didn't want one night to cost him one of the most important people in his life. He hadn't realized you were thinking the same thing.
---------
After that the two of you learned to talk to each other, learned to trust in the love that had formed from a friendship years strong. That was why he didn't understand why you'd left. Why you hadn't given him a chance to explain.
He gripped the steering wheel of his truck a bit tighter. Elizabeth had throw a plate at his head when he'd gone over to ask her why she'd told you he'd asked Andrea to come to town. He didn't blame her for telling you, hell he loved the fact that she was protective of you but he wished she would've asked for an explanation first.
He had one hell of a drive ahead of him but he had to see you face to face, had to at least try to explain what had actually happened and at the very least to convince you that you were the most amazing woman he'd ever known.
He knew he would be facing Bobby and Ellen's wrath, Jo's too but it would be worth it if it meant he could fix things between the two of you.

What deck do you use? Do you use tarot, other decks, or both? Any recommendations for what a new witch should use? I'm asking because card based witchcraft is basically where I'm making my starting point
I don't read cards very often, but I do own several decks. The ones I use most often are the Golden Tarot (as created by Liz Dean, based on the old Visconti-Sforza deck), the Golden Art Nouveau Tarot (Massaglia, because I love art nouveau), and the Everyday Witch Tarot (Blake and Alba). For most of my readings, I use the Golden Tarot, since that's the one I've had the longest and it works really well for me. Also the deck is GORGEOUS and I love the artwork.
I also have a bunch of oracle decks, like the Halloween Oracle and the Everyday Witch Oracle (the Growth card looks like me and my boy Havoc!), but I use these less often. I tend to use tarot for specific questions and oracle cards for more general or nebulous readings.
And to be perfectly honest, if I need a really clear reading? I'm pulling out my personal runes. They've always worked for me and they're....disturbingly accurate sometimes.
As for decks I'd recommend to new witches, pick one that resonates with you. Find something that has artwork you love and a system of definitions that make sense to you. Decks that come with companion booklets are helpful too, since it helps the reader form direct connections between the images on the cards and their meanings.
The only two decks I don't recommend are the Rider-Waite deck, even though it's an oft-cited starter deck, and the Thoth deck. The Rider-Waite deck was created by members of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and they were OBSESSED with Kabbalah, so the deck contains Hebrew letters and iconography that absolutely should not be used in this context. So it's a no from me for cultural appropriation. And I don't recommend the Thoth deck because that's Crowley creation and Crowley was a racist piece of shit. So I tend to recommend staying away from anything he wrote or created.
I definitely do recommend the decks I work with, at least in the sense that I've had good experiences with them even as a novice diviner and a witch who doesn't often delve into cartomancy. (Also if you want more information on the history of tarot, you might enjoy Ep. 19 of my podcast, Hex Positive, which traces the origins and development of the deck from party game to popular magical tool.)
Hope this helps! 😊

It’s Day 2 of Readers Studio, Day 3 if you count Divination Day, and it’s down to my lipstick to do all the heavy lifting. 😂 First, a reading from the incomparable Laetitia Ante Delictum, then Liz Dean’s master class, then slinging cards and shoppies, then the banquet, then falling over hooray! I can’t wait to break out the card decks I got yesterday: a Minchiate Al Cigno and the Ur-Lenormand! Yay! #readersstudio2024 #TheMusesDarling #tarot

I learnt to read tarot with one of these) ⭒ Le Tarot des Druids ⭒ Tarot of Oppositions (great for beginners) ⭒ Pictorial Key Tarot by Davide Corsi (the best option if you prefer realistic imagery) ⭒ Le Tarot Ferenc Pinter (absolutely gorgeous, although not the best for beginners, IMO)

How can I get started to learn and interpret Tarot more accurately? Thanks 😊
Hi!
Buy a deck (rider Waite smith art has the most reference info out there for you, so one of those standards is helpful). Amazon sells the standard decks and in some cases, has card with brief key word meanings on the cards
Consider buying a book that has meanings for each card (Liz Dean has a great book that goes through each card). Also available on Amazon. Or you can check local sell-back shops.
Watch videos on other people that do readings. This can help you start to learn how they interpret the cards.
Find communities (most SM either will have accounts or groups) that go over tarot. It’s so helpful to have people to bounce ideas off of.
Pull a card a day and write down your interpretation of it. What the visuals mean to you. How you feel. Etc. journaling can be a good way to explore card meanings and how they resonate with you.
AI chat bots/apps *can* help with interpretations, but I personally use it sparingly.
These are just some of the things you can try to see if it helps 😊

New Things
Something I've felt drawn to, almost inexplicably, is tarot. No, I'm not summoning demons, I'm simply putting energy into the deck, and interpreting the card drawn into my own daily experiences. I had been doing one card a day, but I got away from it. Today, I picked it back up.
I use a couple of books to help me find the meaning: Learning the Tarot, by Joan Bunning and The Ultimate Guide to Tarot by Liz Dean
Today's card: The Seven of Pentacles
The loosely interpreted meanings of this card: a "time-out" card intended to signify the moments after a busy season where you pause to think. Possibly meaning a reward that could come your way as a result of your hard work. On the other hand, it can be a reminder to assess and reflect and/or a crossroads.
"The Seven of Pentacles is not a card of endings or final decisions. The game is not over, but only on hold for a moment. Once you've gotten your breath back and checked your strategy, be ready to jump bank in and work even harder than before" (Learning the Tarot)
Interestingly - the second book I use, The Ultimate Guide to Tarot, describes this as NOT a time to pause, but to keep focus and work toward the end goal. Essentially, take heart that soon your hard work will pay off.
Based on the imagery of the card, and the message I feel is right for me, I'm taking it as a time to pause and reflect. Things have been hectic in both work and personal life. It is so easy for me to get head-down and forget to take stock of what is happening around me (or with me/my family). I'm going to use this as my reminder to slow down today and think about where I'm at and where I want to go.
If this feels like it resonates with you, perhaps this was a way to get the same message to you - take a breath, pause and reflect.

Why Every Beginner Should Read with the Rider-Waite
1) Countless resources are available to you.
From Eden Gray’s classic to Liz Dean’s and Brigit Esselmont’s recent takes, the best books on tarot teach the Rider-Waite system. You may still use these books to learn another deck, but many of the elements will not match. You may have to ignore some paragraphs that will not apply to your deck, and likewise, not all the symbolism in your deck can be explained by these books.
2) The images are transparent and easily embraced.
The card meanings in the Rider-Waite can be learned simply by looking at the pictures. The Fool card is about a new journey. So in the Rider-Waite, you have a young man who, through his clothing and stance, has obviously just begun. It only takes common sense to understand. That is how easy it is to learn. Artistically modern decks are beautiful. But sometimes, the simpler, the better.
3) And yet the amount of symbolism is unmatched.
The reason there is a lion in the Two of Cups is because giving your heart to somebody takes enormous bravery. The reason The Moon is frowning is because it feels confused and disturbed, as you most likely do too when you draw this card in the Present position. In other decks, the lion is usually forgotten, and The Moon has no discernible facial expression. When a symbol is discarded, depth and meaning are deducted.
4) It carries with it heritage and credibility.
Anyone can create their own deck these days. But it matters to me that the deck I am using to give people life-changing advice and predictions is made by someone who dedicated his life to studying the occult. To me, that gives my practice more weight and validity. And it is not just me. In my country, when you bring out a non-Rider-Waite deck during a reading, the client either complains right away or looks uncomfortable throughout the session.
So my advice would be to learn with the Rider-Waite, and treat it as a textbook, so to speak. Then once you find yourself almost fluent in the language of tarot, feel free to switch to whatever deck your heart is drawn to. But so you do not miss any symbolism on the way, begin with the classic anyway.

It has the feeling as if a tsunami wave of discontent has come into town drowning you in utter dissatisfaction. Through no fault of your own your social calendar has dried up of events or activities that you were so willing to participate in this coming weekend. From your vantage point you assert that there must be other activities out there that you can do to fill up all the empty spaces in your daily planner. The very real possibly concerning you is that in the meantime you are going to have to settle for those annoying time wasting activities you dislike so much while waiting for something more enjoyable to come along.

Divination & The Ethics of Knowing🦋
^Ethereal Visions Illuminated Tarot Deck (Available on Amazon)
What is Divination?
Divination is the practice of seeking knowledge or insight into a situation or on the future (source: google). Divination comes in many forms and can include many different types of tools (or no tools at all). The form of divination that you choose can be more accessible (you can find tarot desk in the most unusual places now) or it can be linked to a specific tradition. When researching what forms of divination you want to learn it is important to look into the origins and historical practices surrounding that form of divination. For example, although runes can be learned by anyone, they will have particular significance to someone who worships or works with the norse gods.
Why Learn a Form of Divination Anyway?
Divination is most commonly used to interpret and receive messages from deities or spirits. For example, you may use divination if you want to ask for a spirit's permission to do something. Divination is also commonly used to receive advice or insight into situations that are causing anxiety or stress. Whatever your reason for learning a form of divination is, it is fairly common to know at least one. The most popular in recent years has been cartomancy (specifically using either tarot or oracle cards).
Some other types include astrology, runes, bone throwing, dowsing (using a pendulum or rods), palmistry, scrying (fire, smoke, etc.), ceromancy, cloud divination and many more.
Ethical Implications When Divining for Others:
Divination, like everything, is something that should be taken with a grain of salt. Readings are not set in stone and the advice being given should be taken as nothing more than a suggestion. At the end of the day, the only thing that can make an impact in your life is you and although some readings may bring difficult news (trust me I've been there), how we react to them and what we do moving forward is more important than anything else.
When giving readings for others here are some things I like to keep in mind (this will be from a tarot reader's perspective):
How I understand a reading is only one interpretation, another reader may read the same cards completely differently
Readings should never instil fear in the recipient
My opinion and relationship with certain cards may not reflect their meaning for someone else- it is important to be neutral when reading for others and not let our own biases influence the interpretation
I never read for others without their explicit permission- this may be more of a personal preference rather than an ethical guideline but you never know what kind of wards people have in place so I just avoid doing it!
I only give readings on the topic that is requested- If someone wants a reading regarding a situation, I stay focused on their request. If the reading is about a job opportunity and the cards that are pulled are cards I associate with love, I will try to interpret them through the confines of the question rather than telling the recipient what I think about their love life.
A lot of this will likely be common sense to people and that's a good thing. Being able to give readings to other or having other request readings from you is both an honour and a good way to practice. If you decide to charge for your services then you may want to develop your own ethical guidelines. In my personal divination practice, I am in the process of developing a list of questions/topics that I refuse to divine on. The more experience you get, reading for yourself and for others, the clearer your personal ethical guidelines will become.

Roswell, New Mexico star Michael Trevino is stepping behind the camera for what he’s calling “the Avengers assembling to come together for one common goal” episode of the series.
In August 8’s “Wild Wild West,” it’s up to everyone to save Liz (Jeanine Mason) after Shivani (Rehka Sharma) exposed her to the alien-power mist. As a result, Liz ends up in a mindscape set in the wild, wild west, and it soon becomes not just about saving her, but Max (Nathan Dean) as well.
Trevino previews the episode (including Shiri Appleby’s appearance), talks about directing, and teases how it will all end for Kyle and his relationship with Isobel (Lily Cowles).
What made this episode the right one for your TV directing debut? You did a short [Two Roads] previously.
Michael Trevino: I did. I did a short film after Season 3. I’ve been shadowing all the directors on our series since the pilot, since Julie Plec directed our pilot, and I made it a point to communicate clearly, if this show goes for multiple seasons, at some point, I’d really like the opportunity to direct. I learned a lot. Being on set as an actor, I’m always trying to just see what every department is doing. And this was the season that they finally gave me a shot. I think doing the short film for myself after Season 3 had a lot to do with that, just for them to see how serious I was about it, and so I’m glad that it happened.
Can you preview the episode? We know Liz is out in a mindscape after inhaling that mist, and everyone’s trying to save her.
That’s where we’re at, yeah. I got lucky where this episode starts strong, especially given the way the last episode ended, and it’s the lead of our show, it’s our hero, Liz and she is knocked out and it’s all hands on deck. Everybody’s coming together as a team. I remember at the beginning, to me, it read like this was the Avengers assembling to come together for one common goal and it was to save her life.
We do see Kyle in the mindscape, just not as fans might expect. What can you tease?
[Laughs] I can say that Kyle is definitely in this episode, but in a way that you’ve never seen him before, but is clearly, to me, the MVP of the episode and when you watch, you’ll see why.
Talk about directing the wild west scenes. Those were so much fun.
They were. It’s all of our cast in one scene, and that is such a gift because everybody’s so talented and it brings the stakes that much higher because everybody is together. But I will say that they are more difficult to shoot. Doing the coverage on that many actors in one scene and blocking them in the proper position so I can best tell the story within our 12 hour day of getting seven to eight pages, it’s a bit of a challenge. But that’s part of the work, that’s part of the creative process and having to lean on those around me was very helpful in doing that.
It seems like there weren’t that many locations, mainly the wild west and the hospital room.
It was. And so for me, we [had] never shot at that wild west ranch that is out in Santa Fe, New Mexico. That was completely new. And so it’s always exciting to step into a new set, a new space, a new environment, and just find a way to tell the story. As much as it is daunting and I don’t mean to say fearful, but it is a bit scary, but once you do the prep and you figure it out and do one thing at a time, you have a plan in place and how to do coverage on each scene.
We do see Shiri Appleby in this episode. What can you tell us about that?
To me, this has been a long time coming. Everybody who has been following us knows that Shiri Appleby has been able to direct a few episodes for us. She is the OG of the Roswell family. We are going to see her in front of the camera. That’s public knowledge. I hope people are excited. It’s nice to see her, and you would imagine her scenes are going to be with our version of Liz. I think it was just such a special moment to have her on the set, kind of a full circle moment. We’re very familiar with her, because like I said, she’s directed multiple episodes. But she is big in this storyline.
I was going to say you two swap places — she directed you, now you’re directing her.
Yes, which was interesting. And the thing is with this being my first time behind the camera and directing, it’s a bit nerve-wracking and I have to say that I’m just grateful that all the actors had my back, were supportive of me and in any moment that I needed help in communicating certain notes, they were very receptive towards working with me.
I will say the last scene in the episode with Jeanine and Shiri Appleby, it was right before lunch and we had to get this scene in before lunch, otherwise we were gonna lose daylight. And unfortunately we had to rush the shooting of that scene a bit. And I remember going to [Shiri] and saying, “Hey, I do apologize that this isn’t a pace that I want to work with, but right now, I’m getting rushed to finish the scene before lunch.” And I just felt so bad because I’ve been there before — obviously as an actor, you’re trying to have these moments in your performance and you’re being just rushed because we gotta get it before lunch — but that is the nature of the beast. She was just so supportive and saying,”Don’t even worry about it. You’re doing fine. Stay in it.” Because I was so in my head at times — how can you not be? I overthink to a fault. And I went to her and she just told me, “Stay calm. You’re doing fine. Everything’s going great.” And so little moments like that are super, super helpful.
Do you think you overthink also because you know from the other side, from being in front of the camera, too?
I do a bit, but if I’m being honest, I overthink everything constantly. It’s a bad habit, and I try to work on that, but with this, there’s just so many moving parts. Directing network television is being handed the keys to a giant machine and it’s gonna move with you or without you. It’s just about staying on top of it and communicating clearly to everybody that is on a set, and it’s exhilarating as much as it is just bonkers at times. It really is, but I love it.
Kyle and Isobel’s relationship is complicated, to say the least. She doesn’t want him waiting for her, but how is he feeling about her and their future? Is he more optimistic or pessimistic?
Honestly, over the years, I feel like so much has been thrown at him and him trying to put out fires in other people’s business and problems that I feel he’s wholeheartedly optimistic. I think he has to be, since the death of his father, and in living his life, he’s chosen to stay steadfast in that mindset because otherwise I feel like he loses it all. So I think he stays optimistic.
What’s next for Kyle and Isobel?
It’s one of those early-on relationships where somebody is more invested than the other, but you’re each trying to suss each other out on how serious is this relationship. But like most things in Roswell, I think there’s gonna be some outside circumstances that bring them together as much as it pulls them apart. But towards the end of the season, I think we put a nice bow on their relationship since this season is our last.
Speaking of that, what can you say about how the series ends for Kyle? I just want him to catch a break.
No, the guy never does. And I love that though, because it allows me to, as an actor, perform with everybody and be part of every storyline, so I’m super grateful for that. But Kyle can never catch a break. The guy is always on the run, taking care of something or managing some crisis and that doesn’t end, not in our world of Roswell, and it continues on to the end, but this being the final season, I think there is a nice sendoff here or an end to this chapter for us all.

She was just so supportive and saying, “Don't even worry about it.
Whats next for Kyle and Isobel?
